Having new ideas and finding a supply of courage
Nearly three years
ago, I was taken aback when Lilian Brown, as Magazine Editor, asked me to
contribute a regular article to the Parish News. My immediate reaction was
to say “Well, I have never done anything like that before and I am not
sure I could manage it “. And then the next thought “ I`m sorry
but my list of things to do is so long!” But have you sometimes looked
back on your life and seen the unexpected events which have engaged and involved
you. Before you know it you are taking slightly different viewpoints, having
new ideas and finding a supply of courage.
In the three years that I have contributed to “View from the Pew”
I have learnt so much and talked to so many more people than before.
But now things have to change as it has become just too difficult to meet
deadlines, or even just be in the pew for many parish or diocesan services
and events. It has been an immense privilege to write for the magazine and
my thanks to you for reading it.
Is there someone out there in the pews who would like to tell us about their
view of the Church of England, its life, worship and activities? If there
is, and you would like a friendly contact you are more than welcome to telephone
[01364 652829] to have a conversation or arrange a meeting.
A final word: I am so grateful for the opportunity of having been able to
express my view and to have made a small personal contribution in that way.
Thank you for having read it each month!
